Learning Diversity Assistant

The Position

The Learning Diversity Assistant actively assists students with diverse/additional learning needs to access, participate, and engage in the curriculum primarily through in-class support. The Learning Diversity Assistant provides direct and indirect assistance to individual students or groups of students under the direction and supervision of the Head of Learning Diversity and from the Subject Teacher during class.

About You

  • Relevant qualifications, one or two-year post-secondary certificate eg. Certificate III in Educational Support, or a demonstrated willingness to complete a qualification
  • Experience working with and supporting students with additional learning needs (advantageous)
  • Strong relational and interpersonal skills in order to establish positive relationships with staff and students
  • Flexibility and the ability to operate effectively in a changing environment
  • A strong commitment to team work and working collaboratively with others
  • Well-developed ICT skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional learning to build capacity
  • Current First Aid certification (desirable)
  • Demonstrated commitment to Catholic Education and an understanding of the importance of charism and spiritual tradition in the life of an order-owned Catholic school
  • A commitment to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children

A current Working with Children Check (employee) and National Police Check are essential requirements for this position.

This position is for the 2024 school year, fixed term. Ideally commencing within Term 2, 2024 (April-June). Full time is preferable, part-time (4 days per week) may be considered.

Laboratory Technician (Science)

The Position

We are looking for a proactive and suitably experienced Science Laboratory Technician, to deliver a high-quality support system to our Science Department. The Science Laboratory Technician works in collaboration with the Learning Leader: Science, other laboratory staff and Science Teachers to ensure that all Science classes are conducted in a safe and effective manner. The Science Laboratory Technician is also responsible for ensuring that all science equipment and supplies are maintained in accordance with the required safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities of the role: (Overview)

  • Teacher Support- support classroom activities (experiments/education), set up and pack up, briefs on safety and proper handling, data base records
  • Equipment- maintenance, checks, safe handling processes, emergency procedures, risk assessments and checklists
  • Specialist Cleaning- appropriate disposal of chemicals and biological matter in accordance with regulations
  • Care- for the fauna within the department, in accordance with handling regulations
  • Liaison- with other schools to share resources, along with strong networks with LTB STAV, Lab Tech Associations for Laboratory Technicians in Schools

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • An appropriate Science or Laboratory Technician qualification with experience working in a school environment (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the requirements for VCE Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology (an advantage)
  • Strong ICT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Personal skills of flexibility, adaptability as well as a high degree of motivation
  • Demonstrated ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with staff and students
  • A strong commitment to team work and working collaboratively with others
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm, motivation, and initiative
  • A commitment to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children
  • Demonstrated commitment to Catholic Education and an understanding of the importance of charism and spiritual tradition in the life of an order-owned Catholic school

A current Working with Children Check (employee) and National Criminal History Check are essential requirements of this position. Along with a current First Aid Level 2 Certificate, Asthma, Anaphylaxis and CPR.

This position is ongoing, full time. Ideally commencing within Term 2 (May-June 2024)
