Duke of Edinburgh Award

Well done to the 35 students who recently completed their ‘Adventurous Journey’ for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. After a location and date change due to a horrendous weather forecast, it was lovely to experience the beauty the Mornington Peninsula has to offer. The camp at Point Leo included days of hiking across trails including the ‘Bushrangers Bay Coastal Walk’. Year 9 student, Bailee D reflects on this walk as ‘a bit of a struggle, but we all sang songs and encouraged each other to keep pushing!’ Other hikes the students enjoyed were the ‘Red Hill to Merricks Rail Trail’ and ‘the Mornington Peninsula Coastal Walk’ from Sixteenth Beach to Sorrento Back Beach.

At night they would cook their dinners on their Trangias and enjoy the sunsets together. On the final day they had the opportunity as a group to go surfing, an experience to remember! We acknowledge the Year 9 students who commenced the Award this year and congratulate those across Years 9 to 12 who have worked hard to complete their Award throughout the year after the recent challenging years. We also thank our Duke of Edinburgh Coordinators, Maree Clark and Jo Wood for their guidance and organisation of these wonderful experiences.
