Last week we celebrated Design and Technologies week. This learning area merges Textiles and Food, enabling students to create quality designed solutions across a range of technologies contexts. Tailored to their chosen subjects, students have the opportunity to explore global issues like food miles, minimising waste, biodiversity, sustainable practices, fair trade, combatting exploitative labor practices and sustainable fashion. Among the festivities of the week, a highlight was the cookie decoration class, where students could enjoy their delicious creations. Another crowd-pleaser was making friendship bracelets, which is always a favorite of our students. The final activity, Sock Dyeing, saw students exploring colors and design and experimenting creatively. We look forward to running Languages Week soon, our next immersive learning area celebration.
