Last week our Year 9 and Year 10 teams participated in the first round of DAV Debating at Haileybury, Keysborough. The Year 10 C Grade team debated the topic of ‘Compulsory voting’ and lost by a narrow margin, however demonstrated great skills in collaboration in the preparation for this debate. They also supported each other wonderfully on the evening by helping each other with rebuttals. Well done to Kathryn G, Olivia M and Annabelle M! The Year 9 D Grade team won their debate on the topic of ‘Cocurricular activities at schools’. The students had to be flexible to deal with some last-minute changes to the debate format on the evening and did so with grace and maturity. Well done to Indira A, Freya J and a special congratulations to Rhiannan M-J who was awarded best speaker!
