Congratulations to four of our Year 8 students Belinda G, Amelia M, Sia S and Eloise H who made the Semi-Finals of the Australian STEM Video Game Challenge with their ‘Celestial Chiefs’ network game. The mission of the Challenge creators is to ‘engage more girls, low SES, regional and remote students in STEM content areas’. There is an increased appreciation for the role that games can play in facilitating unique learning environments that support the development of higher order skills; such as the ability to solve complex problems or interact critically through language and media. We are so proud of our four applicants for delivering this game in what was noted as a year with a very high standard of entries. The judges were just as impressed as us, remarking on how fantastic their artwork was. Go Team!
