Digital Technologies
Year 8 3D Printing
Year 8 Digital Technology students have been honing their 3D printing creation skills using the software Tinkercad. They have learnt how to use workspaces, shapes, measurements, rulers, 3D viewing tools and all kinds of useful shortcuts to build their original designs for 3D printing.
Some of the earlier designs included name tags for luggage, game characters, ideal home designs, cups and jewellery. Now students are taking these skills and putting them to use to design an object that can make a difference to someone’s life. Some students will also be re-designing parks and recreation spaces for the future!

Year 10 Programming, Gaming and Web Design
The Year 10 PGW class have just completed their excellent programming portfolios, with many students creating entertaining ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ style games and excellent artworks drawn by Python and programmed by the student. Below you can see some fine examples!

LEGO Masters Workshop
It was with great joy that we held our third year of Kilbreda LEGO Masters with Ryan Evans in the STEM room. Students from Years 7 and 8 signed up to be involved in this all-day workshop with activities and challenges galore!
Student Reflections
The LEGO Master’s Workshop was an exciting day where Ryan Evans came to teach us a few LEGO tricks and challenges! We combined coding and LEGO to solve creative challenges. We did activities like robot racing and building, where we programmed LEGO robots to race against each other. We also worked on designing and coding various LEGO creations, bringing them to life with movement and functionality. My favourite part was programming our LEGO robots to race and seeing them navigate in a straight line. In the LEGO robot race, our ‘Nye’ won! It was also so fun watching all our robots fight for the win!

Year 8
The LEGO Masters Workshop was an amazing experience. For someone like me that is not the biggest coding fan, this day was one of the best days that I have had this year. The activities got my mind going in so many different ways. From trying to work out how to make the bot go from one colour to the next and from trying to make the bot complete different missions at different stations.
One of the activities that we did was a race with everyone’s bot to see whose would win, but almost all of them started to fight and dance with the others around them! My by far favourite activity was the “Make It Go Home” task. In this task you had to make the bot move from the starting point, pick up a LEGO bug, drop it off at the designated destination and then go back to the starting point. I loved this one because it was the task that made my mind think a lot about how we could make it go back to the starting point without making it go off the board or even off the table! I will definitely be doing this Workshop again next year!
