The Position
The Kilbreda College Music Program is growing in the area of VCE Music Contemporary Performance. We invite suitability qualified and experienced guitar professionals to become an instrumental music tutor for the 2026 school year. We have students from Year 7 to Year 12 with a high chance of enrolments increasing, as the program continues to develop. There may also be an opportunity to provide your services in coordinating an ensemble or accompanying vocal students.
The hours and day will be negotiated with the successful applicant, but the role is approximately 3-4 hours per week, subject to enrolments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tuition to individual students, or groups of students, with specific instrumental and/or ensemble music lessons
- Inspire, motivate and guide students towards regular practice and continuous improvement
- Keep detailed records of each instrumental music lesson with the student/groups
- Assist and/or supervise students during instrumental and/or ensemble music lessons, rehearsals and concert performances as required
- Work collaboratively as a member of the Kilbreda community to develop resources and materials to support student instrumental and ensemble music programs
- Undertake administrative tasks as requested
- To observe the confidentiality and privacy expectations of the College
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Hold qualifications in music/performing arts, with experience
- Have recognised teaching qualifications with current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) or Working with Children Check (employee) and National Police Check
- Be experienced in an educational environment (advantage), particularly with the teaching of VCE Music Contemporary Performance guitar exam programs
- Be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork and working collaboratively with others
- Be able to engage and inspire students to pursue high level performance skills including improvisation
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Be able to demonstrate a commitment to Catholic Education and an understanding of the importance of charism and spiritual tradition in the life of an order-owned Catholic school
- Have a commitment to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children
You will be engaged as an Independent Contractor for this period and will therefore need to have a current ABN, including Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.
