Punctuality – Supporting Personal and Social Success

Being at school on time is important for staying organised and making the most of each school day. Arriving punctually ensures that students can attend Homeroom, which plays a role in building a sense of community, participating in daily prayer, and receiving important updates about events and activities happening across the school. Homeroom sets a positive tone for the day and helps students feel connected and informed. Additionally, being late can result in missed class time, which can have a negative cumulative effect on learning and academic progress. Consistent punctuality supports both personal success and a strong school community.

With an update to our Learning Management System (SIMON), parents will receive a notification when their child arrives late and signs into school.

Purpose of Infringements and Detentions

Infringements are issued when students breach school rules or fail to meet behavioural expectations. They serve as a formal warning to help students recognise when their actions are not aligned with the standards of the school community. The system provides clear boundaries and helps students understand the consequences of their choices.

When a student receives three infringements, a detention is issued. The purpose of the detention is not punitive, but reflective. It offers students the opportunity to take responsibility for their actions, consider the impact of their decisions, and develop strategies for improved decision-making in the future. Additionally, detention provides a space for students to seek support if they are facing challenges that may be influencing their behaviour. This process is designed to guide students toward making more positive and respectful choices.

With an update to our Learning Management System (SIMON) parents will receive a notification on issued infringements.

R U OK? Day

R U OK? Day is a national day of action in Australia, held each September, dedicated to reminding people to check in with those around them and ask a simple but powerful question: “Are you OK?” It highlights the importance of staying connected and making mental health a priority, not just on one day, but every day.

Our Health and Wellbeing Student Leaders and committee members welcomed the students with yellow ribbons and supportive messages symbolising connectedness as they entered the school grounds.  At lunchtime, they facilitated a drawing session with students from a range of different ages coming together as a community.

Brigidine Day

We increase our fundraising efforts as we move through the term towards Brigidine Day. Many events are planned prior to and on this special last day of term. Wellsprings for Women is our focus for fundraising this year. Wellsprings is a non-profit organisation that supports women, especially those from migrant and refugee backgrounds, by providing education, support services and a safe, welcoming environment. Their work helps empower women through programs such as English language classes, employment support and wellbeing activities.

Environmental Action

This year the Kilbreda Environmental Action Team are running the Kilbreda Thrift Store to combat fast fashion. Fast fashion is where retailers quickly produce trendy, low-cost clothing to keep up with the latest fashion. These clothes are quickly thrown away and ends up in landfill. Clothes can be donated at the flagpole every Thursday morning and lunchtime leading up to Brigidine Day. Please bring clothes that are in good condition! On Brigidine Day we will open a stall with all the clothes, and you can come and buy them. There’s sure to be something for everyone so come along to find your new favourite outfit!
