Mathematics

As part of their mathematics program, our Year 10 Fundamental Maths students have been busy designing, making and selling handmade bags to raise funds for the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project (BASP).

This real-world learning task has seen students apply their mathematical skills to calculate production costs, determine revenue, and work out the profit from each sale. They discovered that each bag sold for $5.00 generates a profit of $2.09, with all proceeds going directly to support BASP.

Once sales are finalised, students will analyse their results to explore the popularity of different designs and conduct a detailed cost analysis. Using tables and graphs, they will present their findings to demonstrate the impact of their efforts.

The project has also been an excellent exercise in teamwork, with students working closely to ensure every order is processed efficiently. Their dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to both learning and helping others is truly commendable.
