Sustainability
Last week, our school celebrated Earth Hour with an inspiring event that brought our school community together in a meaningful way. Students gathered around the majestic oak tree to hang up wishes for the Earth. Each wish, carefully written by a student, reflected their hopes and dreams for a healthier, more sustainable planet. It was incredible to witness our Sustainability Leaders engaging in thoughtful conversations with fellow students about the future of our environment and the importance of these wishes. The energy was filled with optimism, and it’s clear that our young changemakers are ready to lead the way toward a better world.
In addition to Earth Hour, we were excited to host our very first SEAL’s assembly on Tuesday. During the assembly, our student Leaders shared the results of the recent waste audit, which provided valuable insight into how our school is currently managing waste. They also played a video they had created, which featured interviews with students and staff about their thoughts on waste management here at school. The video was both informative and fun, sparking important conversations about how we can all contribute to reducing waste.
The highlight of the assembly was a quiz to help students better understand how to properly sort their waste. As we work towards our goal of achieving 0% contamination in our yellow bins, we encourage everyone to remember the simple motto: “If you don’t know where it goes, put it in the red bin.” This small action can make a big difference in ensuring that our waste is sorted correctly and that we’re doing our part to protect the planet.
We are proud of the efforts of our Sustainability Leaders and the entire school community for their commitment to these important environmental goals. Let’s continue to work together to reduce, reuse, and recycle – because every small step counts towards a cleaner, greener future!
