Year 11 Pastoral Recap: Building Connections and Setting Goals
Tuesday 25 February
Our first Pastoral session of the year kicked off with excitement as we gathered in the Hall. We lined up to have a number written on our hands, from 1 to 20 – I got number 18! After everyone had their number, we sat down, ready for Ms Dempster to guide us through the first activity.
The activity was a bingo game with a twist. We had to find classmates who matched each square, and the challenge was asking for first names and last names. It was a fun way to start conversations and get to know each other better.
Next, we formed groups based on our numbers. It was a great chance to meet new people, and even though it was a little tricky to find everyone, it pushed us to interact outside our usual circles.
The final activity was a balloon challenge, where we had to keep a balloon in the air without using our hands. Watching everyone try to use their elbows, knees and even foreheads to keep the balloon up was hilarious and a great way to bond as a group.

We wrapped up by brainstorming ideas on how to make our year level more respectful and supportive. It was inspiring to hear everyone’s thoughts and to see our year level working together to improve our community.
Tuesday 11 March
This week’s Pastoral started with a delicious breakfast of croissants, jam, butter, Vegemite and apple juice. Once we’d enjoyed our treat, we gathered again to review our year level goals. Ms Dempster presented a large poster with our collective goals, and we all signed it, committing to make this year our best yet.

To end the session, we each created personal inspirational quotes, reflecting on our own growth and how we can contribute to the year level.
These Pastoral sessions have been a fantastic way to bond, step out of our comfort zones, and set the stage for a positive, supportive year ahead. Here’s to more fun and teamwork!
