Years 10 to 12 Japanese Excursion
On 20 February, Years 10 to 12 Japanese students had the opportunity to visit the National Gallery of Victoria to explore the Yayoi Kusama Exhibition. Kusama is a renowned Japanese contemporary artist, celebrated for her work in sculpture and installation, as well as her contributions to painting, performance, video art, fashion, poetry and fiction.
During the visit, students enjoyed immersing themselves in Kusama’s diverse body of work, including her famous pumpkin installations and iconic Infinity Rooms.

Year 7 Italian
Buongiorno everyone!
During Week 3, our Year 7 Italian classes celebrated the festival of Carnevale. Carnevale is celebrated in Italy 40 days before the restrictions of Lent begin on Ash Wednesday. It is seen to be the last week to indulge in food before Easter.
During the Carnevale season people dress in extravagant costumes and wear the famous ornate masks. During our Italian classes, the students let their creative skills loose and decorated their own masks with feathers, diamantes, and coloured ribbons. The results were fantastic!

Well done to our Year 7 classes.

VCE Italian Students Connect for a Language Exchange
Last week, Kilbreda College’s VCE Italian students (Years 11 and 12) welcomed St Bede’s College boys for a special language immersion session to prepare for their Unit 3, Outcome 1 Assessment. Organised by Ms Cristanelli (St Bede’s) and me, the event featured interactive speaking activities designed to build confidence and fluency, trivia based on language and cultural elements and team building activities in Italian.

Beyond language practice, the session fostered friendships and hopefully gave a boost in confidence in the light of the first outcome. The Kilbreda students, in true Italian spirit, baked delicious treats the day before and warmly hosted their guests. Events like these make learning enjoyable and strengthen our shared cooperation with St Bede’s as well as our common passion for Italian language and culture.
