VCE VM Showcase Evenings
Student Reflections
On 29 August, the students from VCE VM – Class 1 presented their Showcase Evening. Students shared their ILearn ILead individual projects to family, friends and staff members. These projects included presentations about each individual student and a topic of their choice. The night went well. All students were prepared after previously leading Year 11 VCE VM classes and practising their final speeches in front of peers.
We covered a wide range of topics, including the “History of Netball”, “Our Planet”, “Sharks”, “Fashion Forecasting”, “Medicine through the Years”, “Messages through Art”, “Animals”, “History of Games”, “Mental Health Awareness” and “100 Years of Makeup”. Although students were nervous, they all presented with great poise and left family, friends and staff in awe. All those who attended were proud of each student and their achievements.

Year 12
We have achieved and accomplished so much this year. On 5 September, VCE VM Class 2 presented their ILearn ILead presentations. We spent months preparing and when it was finally time to present, the nerves kicked in. We had to present in front of school leaders, teachers and families. Everyone’s topic was different and we each had five minutes to deliver our presentations. By the end of the night, there was a big sigh of relief and happiness. As we look back to the start of Year 11 VCE VM, many of us would never have believed that we would accomplish such an achievement and develop so much as young adults.

Enrichment Day
In the final weeks of Term 3 and the beginning of Term 4, VCE VM students continued with the Enrichment Day program. Capping off the program from last term was the much-anticipated International Cooking Day, a culinary extravaganza that saw students donning their chef hats and diving into the world of international cuisine.
With hands-on experiences, they meticulously prepared and cooked their own pasta accompanied by a delightful sauce, the ever-refreshing rice paper rolls and the indulgent cheesecake. Beyond just the cooking, the day served as a testament to the importance of collaboration, the art of diligently following directions and the joy that comes from collective achievement. The event culminated in students sitting together, relishing the dishes that were lovingly prepared. It was not just about food, but also about celebrating the spirit of togetherness and shared experiences.
Year 11 VCE VM students enthusiastically participated in a day-long Barista Course held at the school. The course, carefully structured, aimed to introduce these budding baristas to the intricate art of coffee making. Under the guidance of an expert, students were instructed on how to craft a variety of popular beverages including Lattes, Cappuccinos, Hot Chocolates, Mochas and robust Espressos.
Beyond just brewing, the curriculum emphasised the importance of preparing and cleaning the machine, ensuring its longevity and optimal performance. A significant portion of the course was also dedicated to the technique of frothing milk to achieve that perfect creamy consistency, which is the hallmark of a good coffee. As a testament to their newfound skills, the students proudly served their freshly brewed creations to some of the appreciative teachers, marking a successful end to a day of learning and practical application.
