This Sunday is set to be “an astounding celebration of opera with Australia’s finest emerging classical singers” at the ‘2022 Herald-Sun Aria awards’. Past winners of this incredibly prestigious award include Dame Marjorie Lawrence, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and more recently, Nicole Carr.

Past pupil and Kilbreda College Music Tutor, Samantha Hargreaves (Class of 2015) is one of six finalists who under the baton of Greg Hocking AM and accompanied by the Melbourne Opera Orchestra will perform arias from some of the world’s most celebrated operas. Recently Samantha and her fellow finalists featured in the Herald Sun alongside sponsors, Dr Mark and Alla Medownick, reflecting on the Aria final as “more camaraderie than competition”.
