Refugee Week
This morning, we began with another moving liturgy prepared by Ms Carole Downie in recognition of Refugee Week. The theme this year is #FindingFreedom: Family. In 2024, we emphasise the bonds formed throughout the refugee journey, which have the power to transcend borders and create profound, long-lasting relationships that can change lives. We heard a video message from a refugee from Afghanistan, who shared her experiences and our Prayers of the Faithful highlighted the importance of understanding the lives of refugees and what we can do to help unite us all. It was a positive reminder that, despite our differences, we all share a common humanity. An unforgettable moment was the heartfelt response from two of our junior students of Ukrainian background, Sofiia P and Evie A, who shared their personal journeys. Their real and recent accounts deeply moved everyone in the Mary Dalton Hall. We are grateful to have them as part of our College community and we thank them for their courage in being so vulnerable.
