Year 7
It is hard to believe that our Year 7 students are already nearing the end of their very first semester of high school at Kilbreda College. The growth we have seen in students over the past months has been wonderful – from building friendships and developing independence, to embracing the many opportunities and challenges that secondary school brings. We are incredibly proud of the resilience, kindness and enthusiasm our Year 7 cohort continues to show each day.
As we move into the long weekend for the King’s Birthday on Monday 8 June, we hope all families enjoy some quality time together. In our Catholic community, these moments of rest, gratitude and connection are so important, particularly during what can often be a busy term for students and families alike.
A special congratulations to Chelsea W from 7-76 on her outstanding achievement in placing 2nd overall in the Year 7 and 8 House Fun Run. Chelsea should be extremely proud of her effort, determination and school spirit. Well done, Chelsea!

As we continue supporting students in developing strong organisational habits, we are offering opportunities for students to receive assistance with organising diaries, lockers and learning materials. These sessions are designed to help students establish routines that will support them throughout secondary school. If your child would benefit from this support, please encourage them to complete the sign-up sheet available on our Year 7 Google Classroom.
A few gentle reminders for families as we approach the second half of the year:
- Mobile phones are required to remain in student lockers between 8.45am and 3.15pm in line with College expectations. We ask parents to please avoid contacting students directly on their mobile phones during the school day. If urgent communication is required, please contact the College Reception who will ensure messages are passed on appropriately.
- If students are feeling unwell during the school day, they are required to inform their classroom teacher who will direct them to the Wellbeing Centre and School Nurse for assessment. If a student is deemed unwell and needs to go home, families will be contacted directly by the College. We appreciate families supporting these procedures to ensure student wellbeing and safety.
- A reminder regarding uniform expectations: following the completion of the three-year transition period, the older style uniform pants have now been officially phased out. All Year 7 students are expected to be wearing the current College uniform moving forward. Thank you for your ongoing support in maintaining the high standards and presentation of our College community.
We are incredibly grateful for the support, positivity and partnership of our Year 7 families as students continue navigating their first year of secondary school. We look forward to a strong and exciting second half of the year filled with continued growth, new opportunities and many memorable moments together as a Year 7 community. Thank you, as always, for being such an important part of the journey.
