Year 12
Year 12 2026 started with the Formal at Malvern Town Hall. What a wonderful way for the students to begin their final year of secondary schooling. An array of colours filled the room which was abuzz with dancing and catching up. Awards were handed out as we enjoyed a lovely dinner and our choc tops.
Monday was back to reality with the beginning of formal classes. The Library has been very busy after school. It is pleasing to see this great resource being utilised. I have reiterated to the girls that continual hard work is what makes for a successful Year 12. With the countdown clock in the Atrium looming, organisation is important.
It was lovely to greet so many parents at the Year 12 family morning catch-up event. What a pleasure it is to be able to be a part of the Year 12 journey with this group of students. Each year I challenge them to step up as leaders and this cohort have fulfilled every expectation. Every day they inspire me with their thoughtfulness and determination to be their very best.
We are now preparing for the Retreat which will be a wonderful time to reset and focus on where we want to be at the end of the year, as well as looking closely at our values and how we can live them out throughout our lives.
Student Reflection: Year 12 Formal
The 2026 Year 12 Formal was a huge success and such a special night for our cohort.
It was incredible to spend the evening together as a year level, celebrating the beginning of our final year at the College.
Seeing everyone dressed up and taking photos together was such a highlight. The excitement in the room really showed how close we are as a cohort. The night gave us the chance to strengthen our friendships and also connect with students we may not usually speak to, making us feel even more united before stepping into our final year together.
The dance floor was definitely the place to be. It was full for most of the evening, with everyone getting involved and making the most of the opportunity to relax and have fun together before the busy year ahead. It was especially memorable dancing alongside our teachers and seeing them enjoy the night as much as we were, particularly Ms Dempster, forcing herself to dance with us despite her injured back.
Being able to invite guests to our Formal made the night even more meaningful. It was lovely to celebrate with people our age outside of the College and share in the excitement (and nerves) of stepping into Year 12 together.
A highlight of the evening was not only the delicious food, but also the awards. The light-hearted and silly titles, particularly favourites like “Canteen Regular”, brought so much laughter to the room and proved how well we have come to know one another.
The Formal was the perfect way to begin our last year together. It gave us the chance to reflect on how quickly our high school journey has gone and to appreciate the friendships and memories we’ve created. The 2026 cohort is truly special; we are a close and supportive year level, and the Formal only strengthened our bond.
We are so excited for the year ahead and all the memories still to be made together.
