Looking Ahead: The Final Weeks of Year 12

Today, as I walked through the Atrium, the countdown to the end of classes was announced: just 25 school days to go. While the weather has generally been dark and gloomy, there have also been welcome bursts of sunshine – and so it is with the remainder of Year 12. There is much to look forward to, as well as plenty to keep our students focused and engaged.

Over the coming weeks, we will have several presentations relating to future pathways, including information about equity schemes available to students. I encourage all students to take the time to explore their options and make an appointment with Mrs Lunardi to discuss their future career and study pathways as soon as possible.

Planning for 2027

As students consider their options for 2027, there are three important qualities to keep in mind: Purpose, Plan and Perseverance.

• Purpose – Knowing where you are going and understanding what you enjoy can help you remain focused and motivated. Students can develop a clearer sense of purpose by researching the many courses available, attending university and TAFE open days, and checking the entry requirements for courses that interest them.
• Plan – Once you have identified your purpose, consider how you will achieve it. Break larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps and use a checklist to keep track of what needs to be completed. Organising your time effectively is essential, and there will be times when school commitments need to be prioritised and outside activities rescheduled.
• Perseverance – There will inevitably be times when results are not what you expected or when the workload feels overwhelming. Developing perseverance and grit is essential to achieving your goals. Challenges are part of the journey, and learning from them can help you move forward with greater confidence.

The Final Weeks of Term

The final weeks of Term 3 will be busy, with the completion of final SACs across subjects, folios being finalised and the VCE VM Showcase taking place.

During the second week of the Term 3 break, VCE students will sit their practice examinations. These exams should be viewed as an important opportunity to familiarise themselves with the examination format and ensure they are adequately prepared for the VCAA examinations, which begin in less than a month.

Many of the practice examinations will be marked by experienced VCAA assessors. Students should therefore prepare thoroughly, as the feedback they receive will provide valuable insight into areas that require further revision and refinement. The practice exams are not simply a rehearsal; they are an opportunity to identify strengths, address gaps in knowledge and build confidence before the final examinations.

Celebrating Brigidine Day

As always, one of the highlights of Term 3 is Brigidine Day. This special day provides an opportunity for the whole school community to come together to celebrate our Brigidine heritage while also raising funds for important causes.

It is a wonderful way to finish what has been an incredibly busy term. As we approach the final weeks, I encourage our Year 12 students to remain focused, make the most of the opportunities available to them and continue to support one another as they take these important final steps towards their future.
