Year 11
The start to Year 11 in 2026 has been busy and the students have embraced the challenges. For many, it is the second year of doing a VCE subject, but for most, it is their first time experience of tackling Unit 1 or VCE VM.
Pastoral time and “Futures” lessons have focussed on the need to be intrinsically motivated, set study goals and most importantly, implement them. Four students from the Class of 2025 returned to address the year level. Each spoke of the importance of balancing study with co-curricular pursuits. Study tips of doing plenty of practice questions and seeking feedback from their teachers were well received. There was also the perpectives of non-scored and VCE VM and the pathways that can lead from these VCE options. Year 11 can be a big jump with regards to the expectations for students and the completion of outcome tasks. It is so important to remain up to date and to stay on top of things. It is also good to know that there are other options as well.
During our recent pastoral time each student created a mini canvas depicting our theme for 2026, Justice. These will be placed on larger canvasses and displayed along the Year 11 corridor for the remainder of the year. Student feedback suggests whole level activities are popular for building connection. With this in mind, we will be off to the Hall for line dancing next pastoral. Bit of a hoot!
