Year 10

At Kilbreda College, the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of every student is our highest priority. As part of our commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment, students have recently participated in a presentation exploring the Victorian Child Safe Standards and what these mean in everyday school life.

The presentation reinforces that every child has the right to feel safe, respected, valued and heard. Students were reminded that child safety is a shared responsibility and that positive relationships, respect for diversity and a culture of inclusion help create an environment where all young people can thrive.

Students learned about their rights, the importance of speaking up when something feels unsafe, and the many trusted adults available to support them. Through discussion and practical examples, they explored topics such as respectful behaviour, online safety, bullying, discrimination, professional boundaries and how to seek help for themselves or a friend.

A key focus of the presentation was empowering students to have confidence in their voice and to know that any concerns raised will be listened to and acted upon appropriately. Students are encouraged to trust their instincts, seek support early and continue to ask for help until they feel safe and heard.

We value the important partnership between families and the College in promoting student wellbeing. By working together, we can ensure that every young person feels connected, supported and safe throughout their educational journey. Parents are encouraged to continue conversations about safety, respectful relationships and help-seeking at home, reinforcing the shared commitment to keeping all children safe.

Congratulations to Lily D and Charlotte K on receiving their Brigid Award at the end of Term 3. Both students exemplify our college motto of Strength and Kindliness, demonstrating resilience, compassion and integrity. They are both wonderful role models within our community and thoroughly deserving of this recognition.
