Year 11 VCE VM
On 31 March the Coffee Barista Bus visited Kilbreda College and the Year 11 VCE VM classes took part in a barista course to earn our certificate. During the course, we learned how to make a variety of coffee drinks, including a long black, latte, short and long macchiato, flat white and cappuccino. We also practised creating designs on the coffee (latte art). One of us even made an umbrella design. We enjoyed practising the different techniques for each drink and the hands-on experience with the coffee machine. The best part of the course was creating designs as it was fun to be able to create our own art on the coffees. Overall, it was a very positive and exciting experience.

Year 12 Students: ILearn ILead Projects
During Semester 1, the Year 12 students have been creating their ILearn ILead Projects as part of their studies in Unit 3 Personal Development Skills. This is no ordinary task – each student is required to independently plan, resource, deliver, and evaluate a 45-minute presentation on a topic of their choice. It is an ambitious challenge that pushes students to step well beyond their comfort zones and develop key skills in leadership, communication, organisation, and critical thinking.
The ILearn ILead Project is designed to empower students to take ownership of their learning. Choosing a subject they are passionate about, students become both the expert and the educator, delivering content in a way that not only informs but engages an audience for a sustained period – something that even seasoned professionals know is no small feat.
The commitment, creativity, and courage required to present for 45 minutes is an accomplishment of which each student should be proud.
I commend the following students for their dedication and resilience throughout this process. These projects are more than just presentations – they are a testament to the students’ growth, independence, and emerging leadership. I am bursting with pride and excitement as they add the finishing touches to their projects.
