House Athletics Carnival 2026

Student Reflection

Our annual Athletics Carnival was held on 23 April at Duncan Mackinnon Athletics Track. As Sport Leaders ourselves, it was amazing to see how many students from various year levels participated and supported each other on the day, making the atmosphere absolutely spectacular!

The continuous hard work and energy from our students and staff from start to finish was outstanding and quickly showed that it paid off when we found out that this year we had the most students attend and participate since 2018! Terrific work, everyone!

We are incredibly proud that this year, making it two years in a row, Tullow secured the Athletics Carnival cup and took home the win!

And we know that this win doesn’t just reflect on the ribbons won and talents shown, but to all that participated, pushed out of their comfort zone and didn’t forget to have fun!

A massive thank you to our incredible staff, volunteers and student leaders. From the early morning setup to the final pack-up, your hard work and team spirit made the day an absolute success. It was truly an incredible event, and one that we will all remember. Congratulations again to Tullow!

CGSAV Basketball

On Tuesday 28 April the CGSAV Basketball teams participated in the Division 1 competition at MSAC.

The Junior A team finished the round games in 3rd place and played a great semi-final against Sacred Heart Geelong to reverse the round result and come away with a win. In the grand final they came up against Mater Christi (who they had also lost to in the round games) and while they played an amazing game and led for most of the match, Mater Christi managed to snatch the win in the dying seconds. A tremendous effort by the whole team in a very tough competition.

The Junior B team competed well all day and while they unfortunately didn’t manage to sneak a win, they were very competitive and every game was very close.

The Intermediate team also battled hard and managed to come away with one draw for the day.

The Senior team won 1 game for the day in again a very close competition with games never more than a few points difference.

Congratulations to the following students: Alex D, Frankie O, Georgia D, Sumalee H, Zoe H, Harriet P, Taylor L, Indi S, Stella W, Marli W, Taylah D, Eliza L, Evie O, Sienna M, Ella S, Ayla S, Bella K, Sasha H, Scarlett T, Emma N, Ella M, Amy C, Emily K, Grace B, Jade S, Polly M, Lexi B, Belle R, Holly K, Hannah R, Chloe B, Holly S, Alice R, Stella B, Harper G, Isha G and Ruby H.

Sports Trials

There have been Basketball, Hockey, Futsal and badminton trials over the last three weeks.

We will be starting the Athletics training sessions this week in the lead up to the CGSAV Athletics. The students will be notified this week if they have made the squad (based on results from the House Athletics Carnival).

Aerobics training started back this week and will always be on a Monday morning in the Hall. Any changes to the venue will be announced via the Google Classroom page.

We welcomed back Run Club last Wednesday and enjoyed a beautiful run along the beach path to the Parkdale Yacht Club. This is now on a Wednesday morning and all students are welcome to join.
