Student Reflection

On 16 March the Kilbreda Swimming and Diving squads travelled from Mentone to MSAC to compete in the annual GCSAV Swimming and Diving Competition. Everyone got the chance to swim their best and race against other Catholic girls’ schools in the area. It was awesome to see all the K-Fish (Kilbreda swimmers) cheering each other on and showing real Kilbreda spirit. Our energy and support for each other made the day so much fun and helped everyone push to perform their best. By the end of the event, Kilbreda finished 2nd in the Seniors and 2nd overall, just behind Sacred Heart Geelong – a great result for the team. We also want to give a huge thank you to our Canteen crew for preparing a delicious lunch on the day and for putting on amazing breakfasts each Friday after training, and to all the teachers who supported us at every session, especially Ms Laska, our incredible Swim Coach.

House Swimming Carnival

Student Reflection

The annual School Swimming Carnival was held on 19 March at Oakleigh Recreation Centre. It was an incredible day filled with energy, teamwork and school spirit. As Sport Leaders, it was amazing to see so many students getting involved whether they were competing in races, cheering from the sidelines or helping to run events.

The atmosphere throughout the day was electric, with plenty of close races and outstanding individual performances. It was especially great to see students stepping out of their comfort zones and giving their best in every event. The encouragement from the crowd made a huge difference and really showed the strength of our school community.

We are incredibly that Team Brigid took home the overall Swimming Carnival Cup this year! This achievement reflects not only the talent within our team but also the enthusiasm, participation and support shown by every member. Everyone contributed, and that’s what made the win so special.

A big thank you to all the staff, volunteers and student leaders who helped make the day run so smoothly. It was truly a fantastic event, and one that we will all remember. Congratulations again to Team Brigid!

Aerobics

Due to a change in coaching arrangements, Aerobics training will now take place on Monday mornings, 7.20am arrival for a 7.30am start, beginning Monday 30 March and continuing every Monday morning throughout Term 2 and 3.

Kilbreda Run Club

We currently have 42 students on our Run Club list. We have been enjoying the early morning runs down to the beach at Parkdale. We have one more run before the holidays start. We encourage all of our runners to keep their running up over the holidays. Perhaps they could be encouraged to run in their local Park Run to keep up their fitness. There is a Park Run at both Karkarook Park and Chelsea Bicentennial Park.

Please note that Run Club will move to Wednesday mornings from Term 2.

3×3 Basketball

Last week Kilbreda had two teams compete in the Victorian Under 15 3×3 Cup qualifying competition at Jubilee Park. Both teams competed in Division 1 and performed very well against some very tough opposition. Although we didn’t make the finals, the teams should be very proud of their achievements, with many games being decided by one or two points.

Well done to our players: Bella K, Frankie O, Zoe H, Tayah D, Alex D, Sienna M, Harriet P and Indie S.
