Senior School Recital Showcase
On Monday 31 March, our Years 10 – 12 Music students took to the stage for an unforgettable evening of performances at the Senior Music Recital. Featuring students from Year 10, Unit 1 and Unit 3 Music classes, the concert presented a dynamic selection of solo and ensemble pieces that highlighted the talent, dedication, and musical growth of our students.
The evening opened with a stirring acoustic guitar duo of Blackbird by The Beatles, performed by our Year 10 students. Verity then transported the audience to the world of jazz with a swinging trombone solo, Easy Tiger by Pamela Wedgewood, demonstrating her skilful phrasing and expressive musicianship.
Eloise wowed the crowd with a virtuosic violin solo of Allegro Giocoso by composer Anatoly Komarovksi, displaying exceptional technique and energy. The Year 11 Band students then took the stage with a rousing version of Oasis’ Don’t Look Back in Anger.
Our Unit 3 students Cara, Grace, Maya, Alyce and Leah, impressed with a series of solo performances, showcasing their musical versatility and stage presence. From the funky bass lines of Stevie Wonder’s Sir Duke to the powerhouse vocal performances Kilbreda is known for, the audience was treated to stunning renditions of Gimme Gimme (Thoroughly Modern Millie), Maybe This Time (Cabaret), and The Wizard and I (Wicked). Each performance demonstrated not only technical proficiency but also deep emotional connection and storytelling through music.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated music staff for their guidance and support, as well as to the families and friends who attended and encouraged our students. Their unwavering support plays a crucial role in the growth of these young musicians.
We look forward to seeing the students continue to develop and flourish as musicians. Congratulations to all involved on a spectacular evening of music!
