Write a Book in a Day Competition
On Friday 14 August, 43 Kilbreda students from across all year levels came together in the Library to take on the annual Write a Book in a Day challenge. Working in seven teams, students had just one day to write and illustrate a complete book – with a 5,000-word limit and some seriously fun creative constraints.

Characters like TV Star, Orang Utan, words such as ‘elastic’, ‘clumsy’ and issues such as ‘cracking the code’ and ‘fashion crisis’ had to be woven into their stories, pushing imaginations into overdrive! The energy was electric from the moment teams received their parameters, and the Library was soon buzzing with ideas, collaboration and creativity.
Beyond the excitement of writing and illustrating, students were proud to support The Kids’ Cancer Project, raising funds and donating their finished books to children undergoing cancer treatment.
A huge thank you to our wonderful Library team, teachers and LDAs who supported the day, and to our amazing students for making it such a fun, meaningful and memorable experience!
