Year 12 Retreat
From Wednesday 5 to Friday 7 March, our Year 12s embarked on their Retreat. The Year 12 Retreat is a pivotal part of their growth and development exploring deeply their own self, meaning, values, gifts, talents and connection with each other, community, world and God. It is an important three days in their holistic development and education.
Our amazing Year 12s entered into the Retreat with joy and enthusiasm making it in equal parts both profound and fun! Special thanks to our young people for their incredible participation in this special event. Very special thanks to all staff who made these days possible, in particular Bill Fitzsimons and Trish Moloney.

Ash Wednesday
Last Wednesday 5 March marked Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. We began our day with Mass celebrated by Fr Peter Matheson and it was wonderful to have staff, students and their parents present. Our amazing student leaders then led Ash Wednesday liturgies for year levels and Homerooms. Our thanks to these students and particularly Carole Downie for preparing and organising all part of this important day.
Project Compassion Fundraising
Our fundraising for Catholic charities is often the only source of income they have. Part of Lent is ‘Almsgiving’ and consequently in Term 1, we focus on fundraising for Project Compassion for the works of Caritas Australia. Caritas perform incredible work throughout the world and you can find out more via www.caritas.org.au.

Throughout the term, there will be some fundraising events coordinated by our Living Justice student Leaders as well as the usual ‘Project Compassion Boxes’ for donations of loose change. Further to this, we have created a specific QR code for Homerooms which allow people to donate electronically through Caritas which tallies against a total for Kilbreda and specific Homerooms. Any support you can provide is very gratefully received.
You can donate to Kilbreda’s Tally here via this QR code (to the right) or via this link: https://fundraise.projectcompassion.org.au/o/kilbreda-college-mentone
Year 7 Reflection Day
We look forward to our Year 7 Reflection Day on 21 March. This will be a fun and contemplative experience focusing on community and connection. For specific details about the day, please refer to the PAM notification.
Kildare Education Ministries Student Social Justice Seminar
Kilbreda will be sending four students to represent the College at this annual event focusing on issues of Social Justice and how we approach them based on our Brigidine tradition. This overnight camp includes students and staff from all Kildare schools and will be both empowering and educative for our leaders.
