Write a Book in a Day 2026 – Registrations Open
The annual Write a Book in a Day (WABIAD) competition is on again at Kilbreda for 2026. The competition allows teams of students from all year levels to express their creativity through writing and illustration, whilst vying for prizes and raising money to support The Kids’ Cancer Project.
Date: Friday 14 August (Kilbreda College Student Free Day)
Time: 8.00am to 8.00pm
Venue: Kilbreda College Library
This is a call for participants and teams – please register yourself or teams to me via email at joyce.sendeckyj@kilbreda.vic.edu.au. Please copy in all those in your group in the email.
Don’t worry if you do not have a team – we can create wonderful teams of between 5 to 8 students for all year levels!
Closing date to register your participation is Friday 24 July after which parent/carer permission letters will go out on PAM. Cost to students will be $35 each, payable in Term 3.
Prizes: There will be awards given for each of our Kilbreda Teams (awarded during Book Week 24 – 28 August) as well as chance to win a WABIAD prize in November.




Junior Secondary Debating Program – Registrations Open
Year 7 and 8 students are invited to participate in the Debating Association of Victoria’s (DAV) Junior Secondary Program (JSP). The program is designed for students who are new to competitive debating and have not competed in a debating competition in 2026.
No prior experience is necessary, and the competition is intended as a friendly introduction to debating and includes training sessions as well as debates.
The deadline for registering is Friday 17 July 2026. Be quick as places are limited. To register please email me at joyce.sendeckyj@kilbreda.vic.edu.au .
Teams are formed as soon as all registrations are received.
Please be aware that if you register, you will have committed to debating on the following dates at the venue of Mentone Girls Grammar.
