House Fun Run

Students recently took part in the annual House Fun Run at Karkarook Park, completing a 3km run or walk around the picturesque lake circuit. The event provided students with the opportunity to challenge themselves physically and to enjoy the outdoors.

Kilbreda vs St Bede’s Netball Match

Student Reflection

On 20 May, Kilbreda College travelled to St Bede’s College for one of the annual ‘Beda vs Breda’ netball matches. With the game taking place at St Bede’s home courts, the crowd was filled mostly with St Bede’s supporters, while only a small group of Kilbreda students came along to cheer on the team. Despite this, Kilbreda rose to the challenge and came away from the close game winning by 2.

From the first centre pass, the game was fast-paced and intense.

Both teams showed strong skill and determination, creating a close contest throughout the match. Kilbreda worked hard across all three quarters, using quick ball movement, strong communication and consistent defensive pressure to stay in control during important moments of the game.

The atmosphere around the courts was loud and energetic, with St Bede’s supporters bringing plenty of noise and enthusiasm. However, Kilbreda remained focused and composed under pressure, continuing to support each other and play as a team. Their resilience and teamwork proved to be the difference, allowing them to maintain momentum and secure the win.

There were many strong performances from the Kilbreda side, with every player contributing to the result. A special mention goes to the two MVP’s from noth teams: Molly E and Will F, who both played important roles throughout the game and helped lift the team during crucial moments.

The match was a great display of sportsmanship and school pride from both schools. Although Kilbreda had only a small number of supporters present, the team’s energy and determination on the court made a big impact. Overall, it was a fantastic result for Kilbreda and an exciting game to be part of, with the team showing resilience, skill and strong teamwork from beginning to end. Thanks so much to St Bede’s for hosting – can’t wait to beat you again on our home turf in Term 3!

After the House Athletics Carnival on the 23 April, 68 students were picked to represent Kilbreda at the competition and trained weekly over the course of four weeks.

During the day, all students who participated displayed a strong sense of teamwork, determination and were able to build on their skills. The Juniors and Seniors placed 2nd, and the Intermediates placed 4th, helping Kilbreda finish 3rd overall! It was amazing to see the sportsmanship and friendly remarks between schools throughout the event!
