CGSAV Hockey

Congratulations to the CGSAV Hockey teams for their participation last week.

The Senior team won one game against CLC with Georgia Bell scoring the winning goal.

The Junior team were undefeated and went on to win the Grand Final game with scores 3-0.

The top scorer for the day was Neve Hoult with 11 goals. Neve went onto win the Best Player in the Grand Final game.

SEGAP Sport

On Friday 9May, our Intermediate Basketball, Futsal and Badminton teams competed in the SEGAP competition held at Dandenong Stadium and Monash University. The Badminton team came runners up in the Grand Final against Killester. The Futsal A and B and the Basketball A teams lost their Semi-Finals but played exceptionally well as a team. Congratulations to the Basketball B team who won their Grand Final against OLSH.

CGSAV Basketball

Last Tuesday the CGSAV Basketball teams competed in the Division 1 competition at MSAC. It was a tough day of competition, but all teams performed well with the Junior A, B and Senior teams progressing to the Semi-Finals.

Congratulations to the Senior team who progressed to the Grand Final and had a convincing win with Jasmine Perry being named Best Player in the Grand Final game. The Senior team has dominated this competition since Year 8 (covid – Year 7), not just winning every year but not even dropping a game across that time. An amazing achievement!

3 x 3 Basketball Cup

Congratulations to all the students who competed in the state finals of the Victorian 3 x 3 Basketball Cup. All teams played very well in this format having qualified from playoff days in Term 1.

Congratulations to the Senior A Division 1 team (Jasmine P, Ella W, Bianca S and Lucy C) who were narrowly beaten in the Grand Final against Box Hill Senior Secondary. Runners Up in the state is a fantastic achievement and the third year in a row this team has made the Grand Final.

Special mention also to the Senior B Division 2 team (Olivia R, Alice R, Grace B and Hannah R) who finished in fourth place. Well done!

CGSAV Aerobics Training

Training started this week at Kilbreda and will be held in the Hall every Thursday from 7.30am to 8.30am.

We have a new instructor, Lexi Briggs, and look forward to a great few months preparing for the competitions.

Kilbreda Run Club

We regularly have 12 – 15 students run every Monday morning.

Eight students have run a “Half Marathon” in distance since joining the Run Club in February (that’s over 21kms!) – Mia Carson, Kirsten Crouch, Indiana Hanlan, Eliza Loadman, Sienna Marguglio, Estelle Rousch, Charli Shelley and Teah Whalan. Congratulations girls!

Student Achievements

Jordan Allen – Baseball

Congratulations to Jordan Allen in Year 7 for her selection in the All-Star Baseball Team who have recently qualified for the National event.

Jordan will compete in the Australian Intermediate League Championship at Albert Park, in Lismore, New South Wales.

Congratulations Jordan and all the best for the competition!

Kate Golby – Swimming

Congratulations to Kate Golby who represented Kilbreda in the CGSAV Swimming squad at MSAC. This is the second time that Kate has been selected to swim for the CGSAV team.

Kate was in three events:

• 4 x 50m Backstroke Relay and was the fourth swimmer (31.39) to bring the team home in third position (2:06.97)
• 4 x 50m Breaststroke Relay and finished fourth (2:29.31)
• 4 x 50m Mixed Relay with Associated Catholic Colleges swimmers finishing fourth
