Term 4: Celebrating Our Community

Welcome back to Term 4! I hope all families enjoyed some time to rest and reconnect over the holidays. It has already been a busy and memorable start to the term, with many opportunities to celebrate our students, recognise their achievements and share in the traditions that make Kilbreda special.

For our graduating Class of 2026, these first weeks have been filled with reflection, gratitude and celebration. Spirit Week brought a different theme each day, giving students opportunities to revisit their beginnings, enjoy time together and look ahead to life beyond Kilbreda.

On Memory Lane Monday students wore their primary school uniforms or brought an item representing those early years. It was a lovely reminder of the young people who first walked through our gates and the confident individuals preparing to leave them.

True Colours Tuesday added a splash of colour to their final week. Our Leadership Lunch also provided an opportunity to thank our student leaders for their service and the contribution they have made across the many areas of College life.

On Welcome Back Wednesday, invited students to reflect on the friendships and experiences that have shaped their secondary school years. Opening their Year 7 time capsules and reconnecting with their former Homeroom teachers brought plenty of laughter, stories and a few reminders of just how much they have grown.

Pigtail Thursday saw students wearing white ribbons as we gathered for our Term 4 Assembly. At recess, the ribbon ritual offered a quieter moment, with students tying personalised ribbons to the oak tree as a symbol of their connection to Kilbreda and one another.

Our Term 4 Assembly brought the College together to acknowledge student achievements and farewell our Year 12 students. Through prayer, music and reflection, we recognised their contribution and the many ways they have enriched our community. Our focus on Justice reminded us of our responsibility to use our voices and actions to make a positive difference.

The leadership handover was a particularly meaningful part of the assembly. We thanked our outgoing College Co-Captains, Elizabeth J and Leila T, for their dedication and care, and welcomed our 2027 College Co-Captains, Emma G and Matilda E. The commissioning rituals reminded us that leadership is grounded in service, courage and a commitment to others.

Spirit Week concluded with Future Me Friday, as students arrived at their Celebration Breakfast dressed as their future selves. Their creativity and aspirations sparked many conversations as they shared breakfast, laughter and reflections with staff. Their final assembly and the College Guard of Honour provided a heartfelt farewell from the community that has supported them throughout their journey.

Thank you to the staff, students and families whose care and generosity made these occasions possible. To our Year 12 students, we wish you every success in your examinations and all that follows. May you carry the values of your Kilbreda education with you, approaching the future with hope and continuing to live with Strength and Kindliness.
