Welcome to Sport at Kilbreda for 2026

We are looking forward to an exciting year again with all of our sports teams. We welcome our new Year 7 students and other students new to Kilbreda. We encourage you to come along to our sports trials each term.

There are two types of competitions at Kilbreda:

  • CGSAV – Catholic Girls Sports Association of Victoria
  • SEGAP – South Eastern Girls’ Activity Program

Both competitions are played during the day during school hours. However, some may require the girls to be at school early to bus to venues around Melbourne.

Our first House Assemblies will be held on Tuesday 24 February in the lead up to our House Swimming Carnival at Oakleigh Recreation Pool (Thursday 19 March). The students can try out for 25m events, 50m events, relays and novelties. This is a great opportunity to dress up in House Colours.

Sport Leaders Breakfast – Student Reflection

On 10 February, the Year 12 Sport Leaders had the privilege of attending the GCSAV Sport Leaders Breakfast. This event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with Sport Leaders from a range of different schools, allowing us to share experiences and gain insight into how student leadership is demonstrated within various sporting communities.

A highlight of the morning was hearing from Olympic diver Anabelle Smith, who spoke passionately about her journey to the Olympic Games. She shared the challenges she has faced throughout her career, including setbacks, injuries and moments of self-doubt, as well as the perseverance and resilience required to achieve success at an elite level. Her reflections offered meaningful insight into the discipline, dedication and strong mindset necessary to pursue ambitious goals.

2026 Sport Leaders with diver Annabelle Smith

As student leaders, we took the opportunity to reflect on the leadership qualities demonstrated throughout her Olympic journey. Her commitment to her aspirations, ability to overcome challenges and willingness to continually strive for improvement reinforced the importance of determination, accountability and leading by example. The experience was both inspiring and motivating, encouraging us to apply these lessons within our own sporting roles and leadership responsibilities throughout the year.

Student News

Congratulations to Olivia F (Year 9) who has been selected in the Under 17 Flag Football State Team for the National Championships in March. Congratulations also to Amy P (Year 12) for her amazing results at the Interschools Horse Show (see below).

Toorak Interschools Horse Show – Student Reflection

Back on 16 December, I was lucky enough to attend the Toorak Interschools Horse Show held at Boneo Park. Here, my pony Lisa and I showed against 25 other riders from a mix of school and year levels. Lisa looked amazing in all the school gear and was very well-behaved throughout the day, making the whole experience more enjoyable. We were lucky enough to come home with a 2nd place for Best Presented, a 3rd for Rider Performance, 5th for Horse Trot-Up and 7th for Horse Performance. Seeing that it was our first Interschools, I couldn’t be happier with how the day went, and we are excited to see what the new year brings us.
