Celebrating Music at Kilbreda: A Season of Strings and Swing

The past few weeks have been nothing short of extraordinary for the Kilbreda Music program, as we showcased the incredible talent and creativity of our students and staff through three unforgettable events.

Cello Recital with Mr Toby Owen

Our very first cello recital, led by tutor Mr Toby Owen and his dedicated students, was an exquisite experience. Families were treated to warm, friendly performances that were not only musically rich but also educational, perfect for those still discovering the unique beauty and perks of the cello. The atmosphere was intimate and inspiring, especially after Mr Owen’s solo performance, leaving everyone with a deeper appreciation for this elegant instrument.

Jazz Club Night: A Bold Step into Improvisation

Next came our inaugural Jazz Club Night, which transformed the space into a true jazz haven with mood lighting, grazing boxes and an electric vibe. The highlight of the evening was a special guest performance by Anton Dellaca on tenor saxophone, whose artistry set the tone for an unforgettable night. Under the expert guidance of our contemporary guitar tutor, Mr Chris Johnstone, our students embraced the spirit of jazz, stepping out with courage to improvise live for the audience, which was a thrilling and empowering experience for all involved.

Guitar and String Quartet Recital with Bernardo Soler

Finally, we had the pleasure of attending a beautifully crafted recital by Mr Bernardo Soler, our classical guitar tutor featuring guitar and the string quartet ‘String Queens’. This performance was a masterclass in musical storytelling, full of rich melodies, warm tones, and engaging narratives that captivated the audience from start to finish. It was evident that every detail had been presented with care and love, creating an atmosphere of pure artistry.
