CGSAV Softball

It was an amazing day at Softball last week. It has been great to see the progression of skills over the last few years. The understanding of tactics like “sneaking” really helped all teams improve their number of runs scored. All three teams made it through to the grand final games.

  • Juniors defeated Avila 12-6
  • Intermediates defeated Sacred Heart Girls’ College 17-4
  • Seniors lost by one run to Avila College.

Congratulations to our two MVP award recipients: Lulu Williams (Junior) and Matilda Laughlin (Intermediates).

Go Girls Foundation 100km Challenge

On Tuesday 14 October 21 Kilbreda students from Years 7 to 9 joined together to create two teams (Kilbreda Pink and Kilbreda Purple) to run laps together around Lakeside Stadium as part of the Go Girls Foundation 100km Challenge.

The Go Girls Foundation aims to empower women in our local community. In particular, the Foundation supports women who have experienced domestic violence to move towards independence. The Go Girls 100km Challenge is one of the Foundation’s main fundraising events. This event encourages students from different schools in Victoria to come together to build relationships and raise awareness about the importance of empowering women in society.

Kilbreda Pink and Kilbreda Purple ran a total of 110km (55km per team) to support the Go Girls Foundation. The students showed great determination and positivity throughout the day and believed that it was a great opportunity to build connections with their peers from other year levels as well as with other schools in Victoria. While the students completed their laps, Tamsyn Manou née Lewis (former Olympian) commentated the event and interviewed a number of the Go Girls graduates who had come out to support the students with their efforts. All of our team members ran with smiles on their faces, knowing that they were making a difference in the community.

Congratulations to Kirsten Crouch (Year 7), who was recognised for the Go Girls Spirit Award, demonstrating the values of courage and compassion throughout the day.

As a collective, Kilbreda Pink and Kilbreda Purple have raised $2,481 at time of writing. Incredible effort, team! The fundraising for the event will be closed on the 5 November. If you wish to donate, please follow the link below.
