Adopt a Koala

12 October

We are looking at ways we can adopt a koala as a College. We will advertise the cause before we start taking donations so that people are aware of what we are doing and why we are doing it. We will pick one specific koala to adopt so that we can show people what they are donating to.

Why we are doing it? Koalas are endangered animals and it is important that we protect them. The place that we are adopting the koala from is a koala hospital that helps sick and injured koalas. By adopting a koala, we are giving the hospital the money it needs to help koalas so that we can protect and care for them as best as we can.

This project is currently going well and we have reached over halfway of our goal ($50) with a total of $32 in our tin. We had struggled to go around collecting and continuing our dates and promises as the plans for every day kept changing for our group and classes, so we decided on keeping the tin out front of our Level Leader’s office so everyone could donate at all times.

We wrote on whiteboards and hung up current day posters. This has improved our collection tremendously, but we still have a long way to go. Our next step is to upload a post to SIMON telling the Year 9 students about what is happening and where to donate.
