Nicole Mangelsdorf

Nicole has been an educator in Victorian Catholic secondary schools for over twenty years. She is deeply committed to the holistic education that is at the heart of Catholic schools and to leading a learning focused, faith-based community. Nicole believes that learning opportunities must not only prepare students for academic success, but also contribute to the development of the whole person, allowing students to grow in their faith, develop a strong sense of self, a genuine love of learning and encourage them to become discerning young adults with a strong commitment to social justice.

In 2019, Nicole was appointed the sole Principal of Kilbreda College, where she had formerly held the role of Co-Principal since 2016. Prior to Kilbreda, Nicole's roles included that of Deputy Principal – Learning and Teaching at Siena College, Camberwell for seven years. Nicole has held various other leadership positions including Head of Science, Senior Teacher – Programs and Director of Professional Learning. Her commitment to leading a high performing, learning focussed school was further enhanced through her completion of the International Leadership and Management Program (ILMP) Senior Leaders Program.

Nicole is an active member of the teaching profession and passionate about improving educational standards and developing strong cultures of learning. She was an active member of the Executive Committee of the Victorian Catholic Secondary Schools Deputy Principals’ Association (VCSSDPA) and held the position of both Secretary and President.

Nicole is a passionate advocate for the environment and for sustainability, having commenced her teaching career as a Biology, Science and Health Education teacher. She also has a strong commitment to social justice and has led student immersions to Central Australia and a remote township in South Africa. Nicole is woman of faith and models Gospel values of respect, integrity, forgiveness and justice in her interactions with others.

Smyth, Stephanie

Assistant Principal: Wellbeing and Engagement

Stephanie Smyth

Throughout its rich 116-year history, Kilbreda has been blessed with quality leaders, beacons of light who through their actions have inspired others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more.  Stephanie feels privileged that she has been blessed with the opportunity to continue to build upon the work of those who have gone before her and is committed to ensuring that the Catholic ethos and Brigidine Charism are promoted and celebrated in the life of the Kilbreda College community.

Throughout all the dimensions of her professional life, Stephanie’s enduring passion has been the wellbeing of young people.  Her experience in working with students from a variety of backgrounds, across many year levels she has found to be challenging and inspiring.  It has enabled her to become highly attuned to their learning and wellbeing needs.  Stephanie’s compass for wellbeing and engagement is centered upon ensuring that each student has personalised opportunities to access a comprehensive, relevant and meaningful Pastoral care program and is known, cared for and valued. 

Stephanie acknowledges the important role that teachers play in modelling to their students the importance of being lifelong learners in all aspects of life.  She is excited to have the opportunity to work alongside quality teachers to ensure that the students of Kilbreda are well equipped to contribute to the world in which they live through their actions and decisions.

Jane Ward

Assistant Principal: Learning and Teaching

Jane Ward
BTeach, BA, MEd

Jane is a dedicated, passionate and innovative educator with more than twenty year's experience. Working in a variety of leadership positions through the years, she has led large teams of teachers in the delivery and the development of curricula and programs that have provided opportunities for students to engage with the world using their head, their heart and their hands.

Her leadership experience has spanned all facets of school growth, from a start-up campus to a large multi-campus school. She is experienced in the development of programming that provides opportunities for students and staff to thrive and develop their gifts in a safe and supportive environment. Jane has had opportunities to teach a multitude of subjects across a range of year levels and this has helped to develop her as a well-rounded educator who is capable of leading in a variety of capacities.

The position of Assistant Principal – Learning and Teaching is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Kilbreda College, inspire students and colleagues alike and continue to grow as an educator.

Tanya Kolb

Assistant Principal: Staff

Tanya Kolb
BAppSci, MEdL

Tanya has spent 14 years in Catholic education and has a passion for girl’s education. She has held various leadership positions including Head of Faculty, Head of House and Director: College Operations.

Tanya's passion for working with staff developed in her role as Director: College Operations where she worked in several portfolios across the school including Timetabling, VIT Mentoring, Data Analysis and Literacy and the LitSTEM Primary School Collective.

As Assistant Principal – Staff, Tanya will work to provide a culture of continuous improvement in learning through professional practices to ensure the best outcome for students in their learning.

Andrea Halliday

Director of Development and Community Relations

Andrea Halliday

Andrea is a marketing and communications professional with over 20 year's experience in both the education and corporate sectors.  Her prime area of practice has been in the secondary school education sector, having held various positions in a number of private schools in Melbourne and is passionate about promoting and celebrating all that the College does and its wonderful community.

Prior to joining Kilbreda, Andrea was the Marketing and Communications Manager at Genazzano FCJ College, leading the Development Team in the areas of enrolments, marketing, events, alumni relations and fundraising.  She is experienced in the development of strategic marketing campaigns and community engagement activities for schools, particularly in highly competitive areas.

As a Bayside resident and as a parent at local Catholic Primary and Secondary schools, Andrea is excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with students, staff, parents, alumnae and members of the wider Kilbreda community and to continue to promote this exceptional school.

Andrea Halliday

Business Manager

Chris Shelly
CA, BComm(Acc&Fin)

Chris is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years of experience as an Operations and Finance Executive across the Social Profit sector. Chris has had experience working across International Development, Child Youth and Family Services, Early Childhood, Membership and Financial Services. As a values based leader, he has used his professional knowledge to ensure that communities across Victoria and developing nations are provided with the support they need.

Chris has strong ties to his community, volunteering as a Junior Basketball Coach and involvement in his children’s Catholic Secondary College and previous Catholic Primary School. He has also been heavily involved in his local Catholic Parish across a range of roles.
